Research is one of the main tasks of lecturers that must be carried out in an effort to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely the three basic pillars of mindset that are mandatory for teaching staff, which include: Education, Research and Community Service. In an effort to increase the number of research and publications conducted by lecturers, ITK through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) continues to encourage lecturers to conduct research and produce new innovations to keep up with the times, especially in welcoming the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0.
Research activities that are going well will produce information data on advanced research results and the Research Building and Center of Excellence have the potential for national and international publications. This publication activity really supports the acceleration of the development of ITK in the scientific field to become a superior campus in research and its applications. Research activities will run well and progress if adequate facilities and infrastructure are available. Therefore, the future development of ITK is planned to build a Research Center Building which is a center for research activities equipped with advanced equipment. In addition, the construction of the laboratory building is an effort to improve practicum services, increase student expertise which is an important aspect to be fulfilled immediately. The fulfillment of these facilities and infrastructure is expected to support the lecture process effectively and efficiently. Therefore, on this occasion, it is proposed to formulate a Research Strategic Plan as a direction for research development at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology.
